I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Localization/CAT tools: starting from routine tasks such as bilingual files prep and post-processing and ending with deployment of custom-tailored translation memory servers using SVN or GIT technologies. Briefly, I love everything related to languages.
I am native speaker of both Chinese and English, and have years of experience doing English-to-Chinese translation and localisation for websites, video games, technical documents, non-fiction and fiction. My translations are both accurate and engaging, and I can handle a variety of writing styles with ease.
I have done Chinese-to-English translation projects for documentaries, quarterly reports on environmental issues, biotech developments as well as a range of scholarly articles. My education background is primarily in history; however I have gained experience translating for different industries over the past few years of freelancing.
I grew up bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English, and was educated in the US, Taiwan and UK. I have worked as a business executive in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan; my work brought me into contact with Chinese to English translation, and I became a FT Chinese to English translator in 2012. I have taken the HSK (Chinese Language Proficiency Exam administered by Hanban) Level 5, and have experience translating business, legal and technical documents into English.
I work with English as my first language and Mandarin Chinese as my mother tongue. I'm professionally trained in translating and interpreting at the M.A. level with Distinctions for most modules. I combine proven linguistic skills along with three years of experience in arts management and public service as well as a can-do attitude in absorbing new skills and expertise. I'm currently enrolled in a professional proofreading course and have completed courses relating to energy and the environment offered by UNITAR, University of Leeds, EIT InnoEnergy, University of Exeter and The Open University, among others. For work enquiries, do drop me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let's keep in touch!
I have about 30 years in contact with these languages, which spans multiple domains too; in other words, I am familiar with more than one way of describing the same thing from having lived in many countries. Simplified to Traditional, pinyin to bopomofo.
I suppose more appropriate to mention is that I am still very interested and read widely everyday.
I am a current student in university. I have experience interpreting from when I used to play games online with my friends, and they would always want to play with this one Mexican, but couldn't understand a word he said.

Hi! I am a pre-university student and have spent the past 5 years studying French as a 3rd language, and have taken the French C1 (advanced) exam. Being Singaporean, I use English and Chinese frequently. I always complete my work on time and to the best of my ability. I hope to put my language skills to good use!
My native language is English, and I grew up in a Chinese school, which gives me a very good understanding of the two languages.
My first translation job was to translate contents delivered by English speakers on stage to the Mandarin listeners below. I was given the opportunity to do that at the age of 18. I worked for the same company for about 2 years whenever there's an event that required me.
Then, I moved on to translating Mandarin documents to English. Currently, I'm on a freelance basis, translating drama subtitles Mandarin - English and vice versa.
I graduated with a degree in Business (Bachelor of Business), major in Finance. I have accumulated nearly 20 years of professional working experience in various industries and shy of 5 years as a freelance translator. I'm multilingual and able to speak and write English, Chinese (both Simplified & Traditional) as native languages, I also command Cantonese as my mother tongue.
I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Dual Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Arts and a Diploma in Languages. I majored in Mandarin Chinese for my Arts degree and Spanish for my Diploma in Languages. It was my strong interest in being able to communicate with more people across cultures that led me to also major in International Business.
Of my 4.5 years of university study I was also able to spend a considerable amount of time abroad. I lived and studied in China from August, 2011 until July, 2012 and spent one semester abroad in Mexico during 2013. I have also completed summer and winter study programs in China and Colombia. I am currently living and working in Spain.
Over the last few years I have developed a strong interest in foreign languages and cultures, and have made it one of my life goals to travel and explore as much of this world as I can. The rich, diverse and challenging experiences that I've encountered while travelling and living abroad are unforgettable and have shaped the way I view the world, my life and my future. It has provided me with valuable knowledge and experience that I can apply in the International Business area.
I have travelled to around 20 countries and strongly believe that travel is vital to any business position. That is why intercultural communication is one of my areas of interest and and a skill I look forward to putting into practice.
I also have an ever growing interest and passion for issues regarding human rights and equality and love meeting new, interesting, creative, and open minded people who are willing to push my thinking to the edge.
I have an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life and cultures. I am pursuing new challenges which will develop me professionally and personally and will allow me to make the most of my linguistic, people to people and business skills.
I am a dual Australian/Italian citizen.
